The Mystics have two very good rookies, Ariel Atkins and Myisha Hines-Allen who both earned WNBA Insider Rookie of the Week Honors this season. Both of these rookies have proven their ability to dominate at this level. Out of the two, Atkins has been the most consistent given that she averages 22.5 minutes per game.  For Atkins it will be about remaining consistent since she is the third leading scorer after veteran-star players Elena Delle-Donne and Kristi Toliver.  Last game against the Lynx, she only scored 7 points and was 3 of 6 from the field.  Before this game she scored a season-high 26 points against the Wings on August 12th.  It will be interesting to see how the rookie holds her own against some of the veteran guards like Alana Beard, Odyssey Sims and Chelsea Gray.  Last time the Mystics and Sparks matched up, Atkins scored 11 points on 5 of 12 shooting but shot 0 percent (0-5) from the three point line. Atkins is nearly a 36 percent three-point shooter so hopefully during this crucial game she is on and can knock down those long distance shots.

Hines-Allen scored only 2 points in only 3 minutes the last time she faced the Sparks. But in her season-high against the Lynx on May 25th, she scored 15 points while also adding 13 boards.  It would be nice to see Hines-Allen get a little more playing time since she has proven herself to be a spark off the bench. Hopefully both Atkins and Hines-Allen will bring the same aggressiveness and energy they had during their season-highs to the big stage where it’s win or go home now.
