Lynx take game 2: 93-83(2-0)
Game 2 of the star studded match-up went more as expected than game 1. Elena Delle Donne and Kristi Toliver set the tone in the first quarter and took over. After that, each time the Mystics pulled away the Lynx had a response. WNBA 2017 MVP Sylvia Fowles carried her team most of the game and when the Lynx needed a little push who else but Lindsey Whalen. Here is the game by the numbers, courtesy of Hoopsviz!
Shooting percentage is always a barometer of a team, the Lynx started off hot but went ice cold to end the first. The Mystics shot well to start the game but had a large drop-off before the half time break.
Rebounds dictated the first half. If you were getting the boards you were holding the lead. The Mystics were able to take advantage of multiple offensive rebounds to get points on the board.
The second half was a slugfest, both teams trading blows. The key stat freethrow percentage, Lynx shot 1-4 in the 3rd while washington went 2-3. The score really changed when Minnesota started to hit shots from the line.
Competitive for most of the game, it becomes clear rebounds were a factor in this Mystics loss.
