Season Preview

Lynx

The Lynx are coming off a heartbreaking loss in game 5 of the Finals.

The upside? They have their whole starting 5 back this season. They

also have been to 5/6 of the past finals winning 3 of those finals

appearances. But, they have never won back to back.

Sparks

With the loss of Kristi Toliver the Sparks are out to prove they not

only rightfully won the controversial finals series but that they are

also the clear top dogs in the league.

Storm

Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd have brought a youthful excitement to

the Storm. The question is: can they continue to grow and live up to

potential? With Sue Bird missing training camp and possible more it

will be interesting to see how they do without her veteran presence.

Mystics

We have all seen the headlines and heard about the off-season transactions.

Can the Mystics finally take that next step as a team and bring the

ship to D.C.?

Sky

With a new coach and many new faces there are many questions to ask

about this Sky team. From a quick glance at the roster we can tell

they look to control the paint, but who will be the one to take the

reigns as their go-to scorer?

Liberty

2016 was full of ups and downs for the Liberty. Tina Charles continued

to just dominate, but the team struggled to get up to the level of the

Lynx and Sparks. Come playoff time they quickly became subject to the

one major pitfall (in our opinion) of the new playoff system. Let's

see if Bill Laimbeer can move this team.

Mercury

I think it is safe to say that 2016 was a disappointment for the

Mercury. To start the season the league's GMs voted that the Mercury

would win it all. However, the Mercury struggled mightily. Near the

end of the season they were able to make the playoffs-- just barely.

There the Mercury seemed to finally hit their stride, ending Tamika

Catchings career (beating the Fever) and then defeating the 3rd ranked

team in the league (Liberty). Like we have seen many times in the

recent past, the Lynx then sent the Mercury packing. So the question

this year is: which Mercury team are we going to see?

Dream

The Dream need two things with Angel Mccoughtry gone.

1) Points. Who will fill-in for her point production?

2) The 'it' factor. Call it leadership. emotion, fight or whatever you

want. Someone needs to bring IT.

Sun

The Sun are a young and talented team. The question is: how long will

it take them to grow? If this team is still together when they do…

watch out!

Stars

The Stars are overflowing with everything in the guard position. It

will be interesting to see how coach Vickie Johnson can work them all

into the mix. Points should be aplenty, but there is more to the game

than that.

Wings

Can the Wings move up the totem pole? This team has a deep coaching

staff and the players to make the move to the middle of the League or

even the top third. Can the team make it work though?

Fever

With Pokey Chatman in her first year in Indiana expect her to really

put the Pokey seal on this team early on. The loss of Tamika Catchings

will obviously have lasting effects, but I think having a new coach to

handle the transition is a great move.
